THANKFUL THURSDAY

Why am I thankful today?  What am I thankful for?
Well, it's a really big thing for me ~
to get to have our windows opened up super-wide, all the way wide!

Being on the 16th floor, and that mine Mommy keeps our windows open nearly
all year 'round, they are only opened the "small" way.  I can sorta squish my
head in there, of course I can get fresh air and whiffies, but that's it.

But today, a big treat.
She opened them all the way wide.  The super-wide way.
Because the city peoples were down there, way way below hanging all kinds
of pretty, sparkling and colorful things for Christmas on the street lamps.
I loved watching them.  Trucks, ladders, men (women, too) reaching up to
hang stars and wreaths and ribbons!

Side note from the Mom: you'll see when our windows are opened to their widest the window pane slants downward.  It's a bit hard for June to maintain her balance there.  Also, that is a really big screen opening, that she could easily push herself through ~ 16 stories is a long way down!  I sit in a chair behind her when we open the windows wide (which is not very often) and hold her tiny, furry little butt tightly while she watches and wonders about the sights below ... I think, I hope she enjoys this brief "event" ... but believe me, I am scared and shivering the whole time ...

As I was saying,
I'm really thankful for my big treat today,
my big super-wide window!

THE BIG CAT TREE

"I no longer need this tree",
said my sweet, dear Auntie Dee.
So last week she came to visit
and brought this big one just for me!

and while June is checking out her awww-some new cat tree, we think it would
be awww-some if one and all will remember to vote in the FIVESIBES contest
to support the Husky House, Siberian Husky & Fellow K9 Rescue.
You can vote daily now through September 8, without any obligation.
Just CLICK the link below, WOOOO thanks!

DECORATING 101

Mine Mommy has begun to decorate our studio for the holidays.  Just a little bit here and there.  I've been looking through my toy box wondering what can I use for decorations, and except for my spring toys that are red or green, and some blue ones, there just wasn't anything at all!  Then, yesterday, when she left the apartment, I knew she wasn't really "going out" (I can tell cause she didn't have her backpack on!) and a few minutes later she was back with our mail.

My mail!  Look, it was a box for me.  See the label, for real.  I was so excited.  Oh my cat, a purr-sent.

Purr-sents are so exciting, not to mention the 'bonus box'.  I had to wait for her to open it, cause I'm not allowed to use scissors.  Of course, she says my claws are sharp enough I could open anything I wanted!  I jumped off the table and I jumped back up on the table.  She is so slow, "open it now, meow".  Well, she finally did.  It was a gift from my very special Auntie Dee and my kitty bro-fur, Pip, who are way down in the Sunshine State ... and guess what?  Even though mine Mommy claimed most of what was in the box was really for her (?), I could now start decorating my corner of the world, so I did.  It was the purr-fect purr-sent.  See!

P.S.  she took all the rest of the polka dot balls for her decorating

THANK YOU AUNTIE DEE and PIP

ON THIS THANKSGIVING DAY

Today, Thankful Thursday and Thanksgiving Day.
I am thankful to have been adopted, to have a good home.
To have healthy meals, toys and treats, a warm place to sleep at night. Beside you.
Thanks for cuddles, chin scritches, brushies ~ how I love my brushies.
Windows.  To see birdies, have whiffies.  To watch big red fire trucks even though
sometimes I don't like how screaming-noisy they are!
To see a colorful parade, and people rushing by
throughout each day doing whatever people do.
Thankful for the city lights at night and the church bells that chime.
And for the good neighbors here. The ones I know who do not scare me,
even for the ones who visit (and I hide behind my chair) that I
know in time I won't be scared of!  Thankful for family.
Very thankful for all of you, my bestest best pet friends, I love you all,
you make every day a good day.

I will be even more thankful when we all learn to be more kind to one another.
Everything works better that way.  I heard it used to be said that "cats and dogs
didn't get along", but most of the time that is not true.  Much of the time
we do get along.  And people can too, if they just try a little bit harder.
That will be a day of real thanks!

And I will be even more thankful when all animals are treated with respect
and care, which is how it should be.  We are good beings, all of us, even those of
us who live on streets and hide in the woods.  We need your kindness, too.
We wanted to be wanted ~ so I will be thankful for the day when pets do not
have to be alone, when they can share their lives with human companions
feeling the love and thankfulness that I feel, this day and every day.
That will be a day of real thanks!

THANKFUL (Thanks to Brian) THURSDAY

I am a scratcher, I scratch everything, nothing escapes my claws.  So mine Mommy has things 'n' stuff everywhere for me (and I still scratch everything else!).  But these are three that are OK for me to scratch and they are my faves!  This one was my first, it belonged to my Angel Sisfur Zoey and I'm told she liked it a lot.  I like to use it in the middle of the night, cause the ball makes noise going round and round and it lights up bright and flashes and sometimes wakes up "someone" who says "no, June, not now, please!"

This is my second scratcher.  It has a go-around-ball too.  I don't use it a whole lot, but it's OK some of the time.  It doesn't make any noise or flash and mine Mommy doesn't like it so much either cause all the stuff comes off real easy and gets all over the carpet and rug.  Me, I don't care, except it does mean that noisy Mr Dyson has to make an appearance.

This is my third and newest scratcher and OMC do I ever love it.  I use it about a bazillion times a day and in the night time too!  It's the best ever, and sometimes I just sit in it (it scratches those other parts, you know, specially if you wiggle around a little).  Now this is the one I am so thankful for and I am thankful to my friend Brian ~ cause I saw him sitting in, well actually I think he was sleeping (!) in it and I asked him "where can I get one of those?"  And mine Mommy got one like right away, and I was so happy.  So today I am thankful for all my scratchers and for Brian.  By the way ... I must be chubbier that you, Brian ... I tried to curl up so I could take a nap in mine, but I sort of hung over all the edges!

AWWW ~ THANK YOU

When you want to say "thank you" you usually want to do so in a special way ~ and that's what June and I want to do today!  When June lap-sits for her brushies or cuddles, often the little-claws on the paws can cause scratches and a nice lap blankie was needed.  Of course, a polka dot one would be the best!  And so we reached out to our friend, Miss Ellen ~ the best blankie and toy maker in the whole wide pet world!
All you have to do is look at the photos to see how much June loves her blankie when it's on a chair, under her, over her or around her.  And I love it, too when it's on my lap at brushie time!
When we opened our package, a little surprise was tucked inside ~ a strawberry nip cone, just for June. And it never melts!

Awww, thank you, Miss Ellen ~ you're the best ~ we luvs you!
