CATURDAY ART and THE ART OF DECORATING

Mine Mommy said it's time to put away the pumpkins,
the earthy colors, baskets of autumn leaves and such.

She gave me my Merry Basket and told me I could decorate my cat trees.
Then she put this silly bow on my head!
A red and white stripey bow, that's her thing.

She said she hasn't yet found my blue and white polka dot bow.
Look harder, I said.

IT'S WEDNESDAY, AND ...

It's Wednesday, June.  Are you wordy, or wordless or ~

No.  I'm waiting.

Waiting?  Waiting for what?

Does it matter?  If one waits long enough, something will happen.

Well, of course it will.

So. I wait.  For something to happen.

That's all.  Nothing more.  Nothing less.

I'm a cat.  I can wait.  So wait I will.

AWWW

I'm hoping to get a whole lot of "awww's" with my cute cat poses today!

But, June, it's Happy Tuesday ~ Awww Monday was yesterday.

Meow, looks like I'm getting as furgetful as you, old girl mine Mommy.

Sigh.

Then I shall rephrase.

I'm hoping to make a whole lot of happy smiles with my cute cat poses today!

AWWW ~ The Working Girl

I admit, I've never been much on play, not even as a kitten.  Wand toys are not my thing.  If'n mine Mommy tosses a little ball, I'll chase it once and that's the end of that. I take my mousies to bed with me at times, and I knock my spring toys off the window ledge ~ she's often bought interactive toys, only to give them away to other kitties.  I do like my paper tents, totally awesome.  And a wayward pencil that falls to the floor, or a cap off her Coke bottle ~ wow, those are real prizes, though not long lasting!  Seems I'm a simple girl to please.

What we do a lot around here though are our "challenges".  Sometimes I win them, sometimes not.  Mostly the former.  I work hard at that. No way is she getting the better of me.  It seems she was overwhelmed with guilt (as she should have been) for leaving me alone most of yesterday, so she set up a "challenge" in the afternoon.  Knowing I can't resist my spring toys, they were trapped inside something or other (I know not what) and as you can see, I worked it hard.  Worked it hard and long.

OK, so I didn't win this one.
But I should get an A for effort, even though effort begins with an E.
It was an AWWWsome challenge.
Like that old horse cliche, try again: another day, eh?

"LOTS ON MY PLATE"

Mine Mommy had a little talk with me last night, said she had "lots on her plate" for the next day (which is now today).  I got all excited, wondering if that meant there'd be "lots on my plate" ~ there never does seem to be enough (she's considering re-naming me Ms Chubbs, by the way, but that's a talk for another day).  Anyway, early this morning I got busy scoping out all my best Sunday sleeps spots, where I'll spend the day while she's away ... other than the closet which is my where-to-go spot during storms and the arrival of strange peoples ... there's The Tree ... The Blankie Basket ... and always, The Polka Dot Chair.  Always good to be prepared!

And of course, I'll keep an eye on things until she comes home.
She just best remember to leave "lots on my plate".

CATURDAY ART ~ "I Fixed It", an image created by JUNE

Late one afternoon, mine Mommy went off somewhere, to do something.
I looked around, here and there.

And you know, it's always bothered me a bit that all around, wherever I look,
I see photographs of all the peoples she knows ~
and of course, some artwork-kinda-things.

What I do NOT see are photographs or pictures of me!
So with my own photoshop skills
(I watch her intently every day, learning how to do this stuff),
I decided to fix this.
Won't she be pleasantly surprised when she comes home!

HERE: A photograph of me watching mine Mommy watching me.

AND NOW: The same photograph after I fixed it!

I think I did a rather good job.
It's definitely an improvement for our little studio apartment.
Do you think she will like it when she comes home and sees it?

SHEETZ!

OH, for cat's sake.  Yesterday it was 50-degrees outside.  Today the high is s-posed to be 42-degrees!  They call that high!  And mine Mommy still has both windows open and two fans blowin' the wind around.  OH, for cat's sake.  My sweet Auntie Dee sent her a video (yes, she did watch it) all about cats and the cold and the temperature they prefer...

Well.  Did you know that in spite of all our furs, we prefer a nice warm cozy temp of 86-degrees!  And 86-degrees plus a sun puddle is just purrfect if I do say so myself.  And there she is, wondering why I'm suddenly refusing to sit in my cat tree (by the windy open window) these days!  Wonder on, woman.

So, when she came up with that big pile of warm laundry, not for a NYMinute was I getting out from under it.  Sheetz.  Under and out.  My home for the day.

C'mon June, give us a little peek ~

Just one more ~

Later . . .

And I only left for a moment, sometimes a girl has to use the litter-loo-room.  On my return my warm and cozy world had been upended.  Life would never be the same again.  How could she do this to me?  Well, bye now, I'm off in search of another warm spot . . .

THANKFUL for ~ GOOD FRIENDS

In early 2010, we became friends with Jacqueline and all her beautiful kitties at
JACQUELINE'S CAT HOUSE.
Calle, Halle and Sukki ~ Mommy Cat and Daddy Cat
Our friendship endures to this day.

Though these beautiful kitties, each and every one, have placed their paws on
the Rainbow Bridge and walked across it over time, all remain in our hearts.
And there were those who had come long before ~ Nikki, Jax and Tom.

In the spring of 2023, sweet Sukki had crossed her bridge.
Little Rio, then a newcomer to the family, was celebrating his 2nd birthday.
And it was at that time that Jacqueline made the decision to close her blog, life and times change.

As said, friendship endures.

And all love to fill their homes and hearts with kitties.
Though she has not returned to blogging, here today we share with you the
beautiful furries that are part of Jacqueline's Cat House today.

RIO ~ soon to be 4 years old
FINN ~ 8 1/2 months old
ESME ~ 6 1/2 months old

So, today, I am thankful for my friendship with Jacqueline over all these
years, and with her beautiful fur (and human) family.

What makes you happy?

MONDAY

Monday morning, 3:37 a.m., June and the "mine Mommy" at the computer.
Yes, it's still DARK outside!  Sunrise is at 6:54 a.m., most sensible peoples are still asleep.

So, what picture are we posting today?  What we gonna say?

June, I've no idea, y.a.w.n.

Maybe you need more coffee?

No, I need more sleep!  As usual, you - YOU - woke me up too early!

I'm a believer in the early to bed, early to ... and midnight snacks, good.

Oh, hush, I can barely, think.  Coffee, slurp.

Open the blinds, please, I'll get up in my tree, OK?

Sigh. It's still dark out there, silly, you'll see nothing.

I have night vision!  And why is the monitor still blank?  Where is my
beautiful Monday photo ... my snarky words ...
c'mon ...

ALL ABOUT BEDS ~ PART TWO

Back where they belong.
And I will grudgingly admit ...

Smelling ever so sweet.
Soft, too!

ALL ABOUT BEDS

If you happened to be here yesterday, you may have noticed mine Mommy and me
had a small disagreement about our respective beds.  Well, about her bed.
My bed is my blankie basket.  And according to June's House Rules,
what's hers is mine and what's mine is mine.
So, yesterday is yesterday ~
but here is what happening today, this very morning!

Why are all these blankies, and my polka dot blankie on the floor?
Why?  Tossed so carelessly about on the floor?
Look!  I am in an empty blankie basket!
I repeat.  Am empty blankie basket!
While all the blankies are tossed willy-nilly on the floor!

Are you trying to get back at me for yesterday,
is this a get back game you're playing, one turn deserves another sorta thing,
the cat messes up your bed so you're gonna mess up hers?

Well, if that isn't the cat's pajamas!

(that's my little joke, get it, bed and pajamas)

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

OK, OK, JUNE, go sit in your cat tree, chill out or soak up the sun, either way,
it's only time to launder your way-too-furry-just-a-bit-not-so-sweet-smelling blankies,
OK, OK?

HAPPY TUESDAY

I'm happy.
Mine Mommy not so much.
I'm happy 'cause I love to curl up in the messy un-made bed blankets.
I'm of a mind to stay here all day long.
She's not happy 'cause she'd rather make up the bed like right away.
I'm happy 'cause I got here first and I'm not going anywhere.
She's not happy 'cause she can't do a thing about it!

I mean, think about it human peoples.
Is it really all that sensible that you make up the bed and
a few hours later you un-make it and then you repeat that ritual
all over again after another few hours go by and of course
you do it again ... and again ... and ...

Have I made my point?
It's like me bothering to put my toys back into my toy box when I know
I'm only going to take them out again when it's time to play with them
so why not leave them all scattered on the floor in the first place?

Once upon a time, mine Mommy read me a book about a very famous
human peoples named Albert Einstein and he once upon a time said
something about "doing the same thing over and over again"
and right now I'm thinking that applies to mine Mommy.

Oh well, have a
I am.

HAPPY CAT SUNDAY

Another box had arrived.

It was no ordinary, everyday box.

It was not at all like the other boxes that arrive.

It came with a paper pillow.

How special is that?

CATURDAY ART

This is a favorite photo of June in her cat tree by the window, she simply looked
so sweet and content ~ yet wide-eyed ~ no strong sun, just bright but soft light surrounding her.

To alter it for Caturday Art, I softened and desaturated the edges and applied a
"satin shadow" tool.  To emphasize her ~ June ~ the center of the image was
color strengthened and sharpened.

A SUNDAY STROLL

Several commenting earlier this week were kind enough to offer compliments on June's November header.
So, we thought to take the opportunity today to share a little about the "photograph" behind her.
It is a close up of the Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church, photographed on an recent "almost" autumn day.
We live at the corner of Mount Vernon Place in Baltimore, MD.  The older photo (top) is of the church, looking across the traffic circle.  It is Victorian Gothic architecture, and was completed in November, 1872 and serves its congregation still today.
The photo (below) shows the traffic circle, the centerpiece of Mount Vernon Place,
with Baltimore's own Washington Monument and the church in the upper right corner.  This photo was taken from the 18th floor community room of my apartment building.  Park areas for gathering, lunching, and community events
extend out from the Monument in each direction and the entire area is
designated a National Historic Landmark District.

Two images of the church, taken walking by and from the park.
This area is beautiful and relaxing in all seasons.  Wonderful for people-watching,
for pet-watching and so much more.

truly beautiful and historic neighborhood,
