MERRY MONDAY
MERRY MONDAY
Merry as in "Merry Christmas" as that is when she arrived at her furever home
with her furever family ~ our dear friends in Ocala.
I thought I'd posted most of our January In Florida photos, but yesterday received this one
from Ms Dee and couldn't resist sharing it. Little Merry, one of the sweetest
and most loving dogs I've ever met ~
can't help but wish I could have taken her home with me!

FUNNY PICTURE FRIDAY with PIP
When you are on a long road trip, such as we were, traveling from Maryland to Florida,
and when you are in an RV, and when you are sharing a single litter box with two other kitties,
and when that litter box is a uni-sex-box ... well, certain rules of the road must apply.
After all, that is only common courtesy.
Rule Number One: look around to be sure no one is waiting in line,
especially if you plan to be in there for awhile.
Rule Number Two: look inside to be sure no one is already there!
Aah, the coast is clear. My turn! Promise I won't be long, kitties.
Oh, and unspoken Rule Number Three:
And "you know who I'm talking to":
Please make every effort to actually use the litter box,
the floor space in front does not count!

MICANOPY MONDAY
As we near the end of February, we also are nearing the end of sharing photos from January in Florida ~ below a series of photos from Micanopy, Florida.
The claim to fame for this little inland town is that it is the oldest inland town in the state. Small, charming ~ trees dripping with Spanish moss, Southern charm at every turn and overflowing with history. Antique shops and book stores, great restaurants, it is worth a days visit.
HORTON took us there [Horton, by the way, is Dee's RV] and our photo-month-tour would not be complete without paying him due respect!

THANKFUL THURSDAY
When one is on a long road trip (such as Maryland to Florida) one should be
thankful for a fun and funny traveling companion!
I (for one) am thankful that Ms Dee was mine ~ why, she even entertained
at meal stops by making artistic sculptures from straw paper wrappers!
[can you guess what this is?]

CROSS CREEK
Cross Creek, Florida ~ a sleepy little Florida town, just a pause on the road really. Giving one little reason to do more than drive right through. However, if history, literature and "the real" Florida are of any interest then you may want to stop and visit awhile. Best known as the home of author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, her modest "cracker style" house is now an historic site and the hard but fascinating lifestyle of the 1930s and 1940s is well told by the docents who provide tours of her home and property. Ms Rawlings is best known for having written The Yearling [1938], winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1939 and her memoir, Cross Creek [1942] among dozens of novels and short stories.

We visited on an overcast, rain-dripping day which only added to the rather tattered and worn-out look of the entire town. Though this little restaurant [it's much larger on the inside] likely appeared tired and scruffy even on a sunny day ~ it still exudes a lot of Southern charm and some surprisingly good meals!!

MERRY MONDAY ~ MEET MERRY
A little bit of doxie and a little bit of Jack Russell terrier,
Merry is about seven-pounds of lap-loving-love!
She makes her home near Ocala, Florida
with dear friends ...

SUNDAY SELFIES Blog Hop
MERRY is the totally adorable, totally sweet little girl who lives with the friends
we visited in Ocala (she is the indoor-sis-fur to Goldie and Sammy who were here on
Zoolatry earlier this week).
If you'd like to see more of her (when she comes out from hiding under
her blankie), stop by tomorrow for Merry Monday!

BIG-CAT CATURDAY ~ ODIN, the LIGER
During our visit to north central Florida and the Ocala National Forest area,
Dee and I had the privilege to spend most of a day at the
Endangered Animal Rescue Sanctuary in Citra, Florida.

FUNNY PICTURES FRIDAY [or how I survived my Florida vacation with no broken bones!]
How I survived 1-mili-second (or perhaps less!) on a Pogo Stick, with no broken bones,
sprains or contusions during my Florida Vacation.
With thanks to, and guidance and direction from my 9-year old grandson!
Note: this activity is not generally recommended for 71-year old grandmothers
even though this grandma luckily did not end up with her a** on the grass.

THANKFUL THURSDAY
Thankful for dear friends!
During our month in Florida, we spent some time with dear friends who live near
the Ocala National Forest in north central Florida ~ it's a beautiful area of the sunshine state,
and in the days ahead we'll share some photos from our time there.
Today, meet Goldie and Sammy!
An adorable sister and brother, part beagle and part Australian shepherd who
run and play on about six-plus-acres of farmland where our friends live.
Lively, super friendly and quite loving, they often waited at the RV door,
hoping for a treat or an ear scritch!

A FEW WEDNESDAY WORDS
While we were traveling along the highways and byways,
I sometimes liked to curl up in the back of the RV with a good book.
So did Mom!
Unfortunately, even a good book tended to put us both to sleep. Sigh!
[I think Aunt Dee snuck back and took that second photo;
though I'm pretty sure she stopped driving first!]

THOUGHTS from TK
Hi, TK here ...
Friends, you should know that I am the smart-cat in this trio ...
Zoey may have done (or pretended to do) the driving to Florida, and
Pip may have done the job of navigator ...
but me?
Well, being the wise old guy that I am, I simply curled up on a comfy seat,
soaked up a bit of sunshine, enjoyed the hum of the road and dozed my way south!

HELLO AGAIN !
Hi and hello !
Pip here ... on our trip to Florida.
You may have seen Zoey in the drivers seat yesterday,
but here's the thing kitties ...
Nobody would get there without a good navigator!
That's me, the pipper, pipsqueak, PIP!
