THANKFUL for ~ GOOD FRIENDS

In early 2010, we became friends with Jacqueline and all her beautiful kitties at
JACQUELINE'S CAT HOUSE.
Calle, Halle and Sukki ~ Mommy Cat and Daddy Cat
Our friendship endures to this day.

Though these beautiful kitties, each and every one, have placed their paws on
the Rainbow Bridge and walked across it over time, all remain in our hearts.
And there were those who had come long before ~ Nikki, Jax and Tom.

In the spring of 2023, sweet Sukki had crossed her bridge.
Little Rio, then a newcomer to the family, was celebrating his 2nd birthday.
And it was at that time that Jacqueline made the decision to close her blog, life and times change.

As said, friendship endures.

And all love to fill their homes and hearts with kitties.
Though she has not returned to blogging, here today we share with you the
beautiful furries that are part of Jacqueline's Cat House today.

RIO ~ soon to be 4 years old
FINN ~ 8 1/2 months old
ESME ~ 6 1/2 months old

So, today, I am thankful for my friendship with Jacqueline over all these
years, and with her beautiful fur (and human) family.

IS IT REALLY A THANKFUL THURSDAY?

For many days here I spoke to all the reasons I felt strongly about the election held earlier this week.
My words may not have reflected the views of others, no offense was ever intended.
For the most part, my words were posted to reflect my political leanings.

However, there was a great deal about this election that was very personal to me.
The outcome meant much for many in my family,
for the young generation that will be living through life in the years to come.

But today, I do not feel thankful for the outcome, my soul and my spirit
are crushed and empty and fearful.

Fearful that my amazing granddaughter, now in her 2nd year of medical school in Tampa, will not be able
to follow her dream and her goal to be an OB/GYN and to practice medicine freely and fully wherever she chooses.

Heart broken that my middle grandson, now looking toward a career in the U.S. Navy, and
just beginning his studies at USNA/Annapolis will likely one day not serve his country under an administration
that respects and honors his service.

That my two beautiful great nieces, studying to be registered nurses in Wisconsin, who
had to "fight against the odds", just to register to vote in that state ~ knowing their votes would
make a difference ~ I'm proud of them ~ yet, will they be able to fully
and comfortably pursue their chosen profession.

My youngest grandson is not shown here.  Bright, ambitious and hard working ~ an AP honors
student, loving music and soccer ~ has not yet chosen a career path.  But whatever road he may
follow, will he be able to do so freely?

So, today, yes ~ I am not yet prepared to speak of thanks, for them, for their futures.
I can only hope that time will prove me wrong,
that wise and brave minds will speak truth to power, that kind hearts will prevail,
that women and men who look beyond themselves for the greater good
will stand as the guardrails against tyranny,
for this I will be thankful.

COMING and GOING

COMING and GOING

"I'm coming, Mom."  For a long, very long time, mine Mommy
and I have been practicing a new word.

The word is "coming".  Here is a picture of me "coming"
though I believe I'm "going", going somewhere.

Yes, she thinks I'm coming but I think I'm going.

I do remember something in my kittengarten class that
implied English is a confusing sometimes upside-down language.

Catspeak is far more sensible.  Meow.
Maybe that's what we should be practicing.

Anyway, I guess I'm thankful to be learning this new word, it makes it a
little bit easier for me-and-her to understand each other,
well, at least she thinks so.

Me, I'm not so sure cause I've noticed that
humans talk a lot without saying much. Meow.

WARMTH, FRIENDS, FAMILY ~ THANKFUL THURSDAY STORIES

Winter is winding down, yet one is never quite sure as March marches on whether it will leave wild and windy or softly, ever so gently.  Spring has officially arrived, but as we bid farewell to "ole man winter", we did not want to do so without a big, warm THANK YOU to those who made us warm and cozy, those who made our home very special throughout these days.  Over past months (and once, long long ago) we've been blessed, been gifted ~ both June and myself ~ by dear friends, by the warmth of friendship ... you've likely seen these gifts in photos shared here before, let us tell you their stories.

The beautiful blanket draped over the chair behind June
(she is not allowed to touch this
was crocheted with love by dear friend Linda, of DaWeenies of Florida.
The design, color, detail are all extraordinary and it is a round blanket
nearly 50-inches in diameter.  Linda is also the designer and publisher for the
monthly blog, Our Rainbow Friends and a personal friend of many years.

Of course, who doesn't know we're dotty here at Zoolatry.
This big 'n' wonderful 'n' warm blanket was a special gift ~
and yes, used by both of us ~
was a gift from our very good friends,
Miss Wendy and beautiful Dani, of the blog O Dani Girl.
When June and I would sit together (yes, that does happen once in awhile
in our her polka dot chair, this kept us warmed up
against winters chill!

Now this is surely recognized, as June shows up quite often in her blankie basket.
Sometimes on top of her very own and totally purrsonal polka dot blankie.
Sometimes tucked underneath that same polka dot blankie!
Hers and hers alone ~ handmade with love, just for June by the one and only
sweet Ellen of 15 and Meowing.
June loves this blankie, she loves Ellen, too!
And yes, I can attest and swear to the fact that she does tuck herself
in and under the blankie anytime and anyway she wants!

This story is far longer than the others ~ this is a wedding shawl, but a shawl nearly as big as a blanket, handmade in the fall of 1974.  Although it was once draped over the chair, it is now safely tucked away as the tassels were far too tempting for kitty-play.  And this shawl holds far too many memories ~
Knit by the lovely woman and friend who also made my wedding gown, the shawl was her gift to me for a late November wedding in Georgetown, Washington, DC.  Who knew what the weather might be, but it was a warm, blue sky autumn day and this gift was perfect.  Though the gift was perfect, the wedding was not.

The night before an ambulance took my Mom to hospital, ICU, she was in a coma.
My Dad, myself, other family, all were there all night long.
Dad insisted the wedding proceed the next day even though Mom would not be there.
Saturday came, following a sleepless anxiety filled night, Dad forgot to come
pick me up to drive me to the church... so had to come back for me.  We were late.
Father Frank came to the altar in a wheelchair as he'd fallen,
hurt his back terribly and a few too many pain pills caused his words to slur ...
we mixed up our vows, he forgot several prayers.
Our musician, Mike, got confused about what to play, when.
But yes, we were officially married!
...
We left Holy Trinity and went straight to the hospital, to ICU.
Never fully sure, but we hoped Mom had opened her eyes long enough to see her
only daughter in her wedding gown, to see her new son in law, to
see her weary husband by her bedside, to receive a blessing from Father Frank.
...
When we finally reached our reception, many of the guests had left,
much of the food was gone, the cake had been cut (by who?).  But I was
thankful that all (at least I think all) signed our guest book!
[And of course, the honeymoon was cancelled.]
...

My Mom recovered well in time, and lived until the wonderful age of 96 ... my Dad passed in his 88th year, together they had shared over 50-years of marriage.  Father Frank remained a friend throughout life.  This November, 2024 ~ had my husband lived, we would have celebrated 50-years of marriage as well.  But that was not to be.

So, instead, come this November,
I'll just put on my wedding shawl, let the tassels swing around,
dance and laugh as I think back on a very memorable wedding day.

THANK YOU ~ CHEWY !

We were away all last week and found a package waiting when we returned.
A surprise, as nothing had been ordered ~ what could it be?

A gift!  And what a wonderful gift it was!

It's ME ... me, myself and I.
A real portrait, all the way from CHEWY!

(per June ... almost better than food, treats or toys!)
(per Mom ... super better, better than any picture I can make with photoshop!)

We love it, thank you Chewy!  Thank you for always bringing us foodz, treats, toys, litter and so much more.
We appurrciate you, we depend on you and we do
enjoy shopping with you ~
and hope all our friends do too, if'n they don't already.

A SPECIAL THANKFUL THURSDAY

We are thankful, and giving paws up to our friend Carol Lowbeer ~ and also to her little furry ones, from the beautiful blog, PEACHES and PAPRIKA.

Carol is an artist in every sense of the word, and an amazing photographer, her first love being nature photography.  If you visit her blog we encourage you to click on the link (below her header) to view her Animal Portrait Gallery in particular.  She is a CWA Certificate of Excellence and MUSE award winner, having blogged since 2015 with a strong and popular presence on social media.  And found the time to write and publish six Peaches & Paprika books available at the Amazon link below.

Well known for her slide shows, these presentations of meowing furry-friends are created by Carol several times throughout the year and featured on her own YouTube channel, and other media.

Today, we suggest you visit and enjoy her MEW YEAR SHOW (albeit a bit delayed due to technical difficulties) ~ and we thank her for including our own little June of Zoolatry along with many other kitty friends.

A POLKA DOTTED THANKFUL THURSDAY

It really isn't necessary to repeat anything about my love for polka dots ...
that's purrty much common knowledge.

Today, I just want to say a special thank you to ~

Mine Mommy came up from downstairs the other day carrying this really
really big box (which I am also enjoying) and it was quite a surprise to both of us.
We opened it (yes, I helped) to find this amazing, soft and wonderfully
polka dotted blankie!  I love it.  Mine Mommy loves it!
And by the way, there was no occasion, it was sent just because.
Just because they are very kind, generous and sweet friends, isn't that lovely?

Look how much I am loving my polka dot blankie ...
(and I do share with mine Mommy sometimes.)

THANKFUL THURSDAY

June, please don't scratch on the chair.

I'm not scratching.
You keep telling me I need to learn new words,
and I need to learn to spell better
and I also need to learn my numbers,
so I'm just counting.

And that gave me an idea.
I think it would be lots of fun to have a
"count the dots" contest.
But mine Mommy replied she is really thankful
we are not going to do that.

THE DAY OF THANKS

The image above is from A Child's Book of Prayers, copyright 1941,
Artists and Writers Guild, illustrations by Masha.
I have altered and repainted this art for use today as our Thanksgiving post,
adding June and other animals, as I've done in previous years with our other pets.
This book had always been special to me, as my Mother read to me from its
poems and prayers each night before bedtime.
Today we give thanks ~ thanks for all that holds meaning in our lives ~ past and present.

THANKFUL THURSDAY ~ PRETTY FACES

So thankful for the many expressions ~ all the curious, wondrous, beautiful faces seen on Miss Juney.

PS mine Mommy says she goes on break a-couple-a days, cause she hasn't been
able to take me visiting to friends much lately and I swatted her a-cause of that.
I like to visit my friends, see their pictures and chat/meow/woof (well, I pretends to woof) to them.
I noticed all kinds of their pawsome posts for days and days were piled up in
our my in box and not even looked at yet!!!  Oh My Cat!
So, I told mine Mommy it's OK for me NOT to post and go visiting instead,
see ya soon!

Thank you.

THANKFUL THURSDAY, MAYBE

See where this blue arrow is pointing?  It's pointing to a corner of mine Mommy's blue jeans because she is sitting in my polka dot chair.  I am giving her my best "june stare".  This "june stare" means she has a choice, actually two choices.  (1) she can get out of my chair and let me sit in it, or (2) she can invite me up to sit with her if, and only if her hand includes my brush and she intends to give me a lovely brush up.  She knows full well that there is no 3rd choice (the taking of this photo was not a choice) and if she does not choose (1) or (2) I will swat her.

It is Thankful Thursday and I will be thankful should she choose to do
either of these and then there will be no need for swatting.

Now I will visit friends at Brian's Home Blog and
see what everyone else is thankful for today!

THANKFUL for GRAND-DOGS

So thankful for the amazing grand-dogs in my life!
And yes ~ each one is very much spoiled!
