CATURDAY ART and SATURDAY'S CRITTERS

For our post today, we chose a photo that we already liked.  A picture of June, taken in low light, a very simple picture.  My only goal was to dramatize it further.  To emphasize the dark and the light and the shadows within the image itself, keeping its original colors.  It is named "Night Light".  The original is below, followed by the reworked image, done in Adobe Creative Cloud.

Original Photo

The above original was slightly cropped and placed on a white background.

Adobe Creative Cloud has a tool called "satin" which has many choices for
shapes/angles/percentages and can be applied in black or a choice of colors.
Satin is a favorite of mine and one can play with it endlessly (which I did here)
until reaching the effect you want.  I was using black in Satin.

Next was the "dodge" tool, this tool has three choices for shadows, highlights
or midtones shaping your tool into whatever shape you want to "dodge".
As I'd already darkened the photo considerably with the "satin" tool, I now
wanted to go back and brighten and lighten June.  This was done by using
the "dodge" tool many times, both with shadows and highlights only after
creating a shape that just covered her body in the photograph.

The whole image was slightly sharpened.
Night Light text was added, with a shadow.

I'M SO EXCITED, MEOWING LOUD EXCITED!

You probably don't know what it is, but something is about to happen
that only happens once a year!  I wait a whole eleven months for this to happen.
For me, it's more exciting than my birthday day, my birthday month ...
it's more exciting than my gotcha day ... and I only have one more day to wait!
Have you guessed yet why I'm so excited?

It's June. My month. A whole month for me, about me, all me.
JUNE in JUNE.

And it's special cause mine Mommy makes a great big promise not to post
any other stuff on my blog!  Yes, indeed.
No pawlitical stuff. No other "just" a pretty picture of whatever she thinks is a pretty picture.
In fact, sometimes I even get to sit beside her as we scroll through photos
and put my paw on the monitor ~ so I get to choose what I want!
How pawsome is that!
I'm so excited, meowing loud excited!

POEMS and THANKS and THANKS and POEMS

It's Thursday!
Time for sharing our thankfuls over at Brian's Home Blog,
and time for sharing a poem with Sam's Poetry Corner at Two Spoiled Cats.
So, here we go!

This happy and colorful "street art" always makes us smile.
It covers the side of a parking lot at a neighborhood market. Although our city,
like many, has its fair share of graffiti marked buildings, many more are
thankfully covered with beautiful and imaginative works by local artists.

Brian's Home Blog

Now, hopping over to
Two Spoiled Cats we're joining

And it seems that humans aren't the only ones who
go on midnight refrigerator raids!

SILLY SUNDAY

We often post poems by Shel Silverstein.
Cause we love all his poems and stories so much.
Discovered years ago when my children were young, yet still favorites today.
Indulge June and me today please as we share another,
this from his wonderful book
A LIGHT IN THE ATTIC.

THE LOST CAT

We can't find the cat.
We don't know where she's at.
Oh, where did she go?
Does anyone know?
Let's ask this walking hat.

Have a silly Sunday.
Remember to laugh, even share a smile ~ with a stranger!

Surprise!
They will feel better, and so will you!

THANKFUL THURSDAY

It's Thankful Thursday.  But if you're wondering why I look like this,
it's well, mine Mommy has been sulking some this week.
You see, as usual, she's attached herself to "the news", always
a source of anxiety and stress (and so much more) these days ... and so,
I am simply doing my best to support her, share her feelings about all of it.
That's why I look like this!

Cause that's what we do for the ones we care about.
Cause that's what we do for the ones we love.
Cause that's what we do for the ones we're thankful for.

HAPPY ~ VERY HAPPY ~ TUESDAY

Purr-haps the best part of being on a little "blog break"
and having more time for other things ~
the other thing I enjoyed the most:
a visit with my son ...

Son and beautiful daughter in law had flown up from Florida
to spend a few days at Annapolis with their son (my middle grandboy),
as school winds down at the USNA and he completes his
first year as a Midshipman there.

Sweet son took an afternoon to come over to Baltimore,
treat "Mom" to lunch and a wonderful
afternoon visit together!

HI ~ HELLO ~ MEOW

MEOW

Meow.  I just wanted to paw in and let my furriends know I was still alive, purring and pawing and all that stuff you know.  Mine Mommy hasn't yet told me when I can start blogging again, and I've been a bit cranky about that cause I miss being here ... but she tried to 'splain to me that although she has gots lots of stuff done on her break, there is still a little bit more to do.  I told her, "well, it better be just a little bit, or I'll get a whole lot crankier and believe me, you don't want to see a really cranky June.  Oh no, not at all."
Anyway.  I hope every furry is good and have a happy Sunday ... see you real soon, meow!

CATURDAY ART-IN-WORDS ~and~ SATURDAY'S CRITTERS

ZOEY, now a floof of an angel, a Himalayan girl, was one of the floofiest kitties ever.
She allowed brushing only to a certain point, then no more, no getting at
the mats 'n' lumps hidden deep under all that floof-fur.  So, the day
would always come when a spa visit was needed, and the dreaded "lion cut"
happened.  Cute?  To some, yes ~ to others, well, not so much.
And this little himmie-girl was "not so much" anymore!

Our "art" today is done with "words",
as Zo would sing her song . . .

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away,
now it looks as though they're here to stay,
how I wish, meow, for yesterday.

Suddenly, I'm not half the cat I used to be,
there's no floofness hanging over me.
Meow, yesterday came too suddenly.

Why it had to go I do not know,
they would not say.
I don't understand and I meow for yesterday.

Yesterday.
How I so loved to run and play.
Now I need a place to hide away ...
yes, a place to hide away.
Where went my furs on yesterday.

We offer our humble and sincere apawlogies to John, Paul, George and Ringo whose original YESTERDAY is one of the most beautiful songs ever.

FLO'S PLACE ~ A Poem by June

When I looked out my window, what did I see
a really big mess, next door to me.

FLO'S Place

There lives Flo,
too much stuff she gots we know
and much rent she does owe
from months long ago
cause at work she don't show

... so ...
from up here they will throw
to the street down below
all her stuff falling low
and away to the dump it will go
poor Flo

... so ...
they gots a court order
to clean up the disorder
from Flo next door boarder

... so ...
they tried so to warn her
none could ignore her
now the cops they come for her
poor Flo

 Now we'll hop over to

ROUND and ROUND WE GO, AGAIN!

Some are wordless today, others are wordy.
Here, the words are still going back and forth, me to her ~
or is it more correct to say between she and I, between us?

Well, either way ~ I told her, in no uncertain terms, er, meows:

"Just look at the comments yesterday, seems my friends all agree,
that I fits just fine in my rounder ...
yeah, right, okay, enough said on this matter
of my plush and lush furry figure.
And I'll thank you not to bring up this subject again."

WHAT DID YOU SAY?

What did you say?
I might need a bigger rounder?
This is a perfect fit for me.
