THANKFULS ~ WITH ANGELS MAGGY & ZOEY

From 2005/6 through 2013, these two little Himalayan girls filled our lives ~
Maggy, "She's A Lady" and Zoey, "Send In The Clowns".

They more or less tolerated one another, like ships passing in the night,
an occasional hiss or attempted swat.

Near one another, but never touching, they were the original Zoolatry Girls.
Looking back here at earlier times and imagined conversations between them.

MY MAGGY

It always warms my spirit to look back at images of my Maggy, the beautiful Himalayan tortie point lady who became my heart-cat over years of Florida living. Gentle, quiet, aloof and always independent.  She seemed to have a strong sense of her own beauty, posing willingly for my camera.  Her favorite places our large back porch and the master bathroom, where the ice-block windows gave natural lighting and warmth and I'd often find her napping there, needing to move away all my little "sea creatures" to give her space to stretch out.  When Maggy crossed her rainbow bridge in May 2019, it was only fitting to show her in this special place of hers ~

ART GALLERY "ANGELS"

Art Gallery Angels ~ oil paintings of my two Himalayans, Maggy and Zoey from my years in Florida. Maggy, a tortie point and Zoey, a blue point, each small in stature, more fur than anything else. My little heart kitties who together owned Zoolatry for many years.

RAINBOW BRIDGE REMEMBRANCE DAY

I believe our angels should be remembered with smiles, with laughter, not just with loss and in sadness.  Maggy and Zoey, close in age and of the same breed, adopted only a few months apart, were rarely friends.  They stayed at safe distances from each other, not sharing space to nap or sleep, though their bowls were side by side they ate separately.  Oh, there were a few moments of chasing and rassling play, usually ending in hissing with paws raised and running off to hide in their own corners!  They were Florida-Girls all their lives and I once wrote a poem about them called IN THE LAND OF ZOOLATRY.  It was based on the song lyrics, "Puff, The Magic Dragon" by Leonard Lipton and Peter Yarrow, (c) 1963. Today, I share the poem with you, updated slightly from the original.  And my wish for you on this Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day is to remember your beloved pets with a smile on your face, today and every day, forever.

IN THE LAND OF ZOOLATRY

Purrs ~ two little kitties, they lived by the sea.
They romped and rollicked through their days in the Land of Zoolatry.
Many friends would visit, their pictures all could see, and read the stories
of their glories, they shared with you and me.
Purrs ~ two little kitties, who lived by the sea.
Who played, who preened throughout their days in the Land of Zoolatry.
Together they would travel, visit bloggers far and wide,
meeting friends, swishing tails, the ZH by their side.
Purrs ~ our little himmies, living by the sea,
they would hiss and fur would fly in that Land of Zoolatry.
Purrs ~ little Mags and ZoZo, who lived by the sea,
they loved their blog, they loved their friends
in the Land of Zoolatry.
Yet we all know the time will come, a time we cannot name.
A time to travel far from home, things do not stay the same.
Here on earth, sweet memories, broken hearts, but love.
Our pets must cross their Rainbow Bridge to live on up above.
Purrs ~ my little kitties, who once lived by the sea,
now forever young in the Land of Heaven,
remembered with smiles in the Land of Zoolatry.

CATURDAY ART

 Tortoiseshell Cat Appreciation Day

Angel Maggy was a Tortie-Point Himalayan and her color point markings were beautiful, striking.  Gold and reddish-orange furs behind her ears, on her paws. Body furs of rich brown, touches of black and pure white.  Eyes of brilliant blue, sometimes full and round, and at other times narrowing to show the Siamese in her heritage.  On her forehead, what we called her 'white star'.  She was often my choice for creating Caturday Art images and today, we look back and share a few of her portraits.  Angel Maggy, 2003~2019.

FLASHBACK TO BOOLATRY

The Zoolatry Human was talking to me the other day ~ all about the month of October.
She said that Zoolatry would turn into Boolatry and all month long it would be
sweet-or-scary for those who used to live here ... like Dougie Dog, and our Angels, Maggy and Zoey.
And the grand pets Chewy and Fiona.  And often she would have many friends from the
pet blogging community get all dressed-up and they would show up here, too!
But we couldn't do that this year, the ZH was too busy with bunches of other stuff, and I was
thinking it was a little bit scary for me.  So instead, she said "why don't you flashback, and share
a few of our favorites from the Boolatry days of old" ... so here are just a few!

That's Dougie Dog and Zoey together up top as "pumpkin heads" and then
right beneath what are probably the ZH's all-time favorite scary-Bark-O-Ween pictures
of Dougie Dog.  [and yes, in case anyone wonders, she does hugely miss that wonderful and
awesome Dougie Dog ... who is happily still with his boy]

And below, from our Florida home (c.2008), where although Angel Zoey truly "ruled the roost", there were those
times when Angel Maggy could get the better of her ... especially if "treats" were involved!

FELINE and FLASHBACK FRIDAY

"Zoey ~ you're looking a bit sad today," said the Angel in Charge, "what seems to be wrong?"

I just took a little peek down at Zoolatry, and then I went and found Maggy and she took a peek, too.
We both concurred that a big change had come about ~ the ZH has a new kitty living there.  I mean, the
Magster and I agreed she is very cute, and she is still very tiny, but we both felt a little sad,
do you think she has forgotten about us?

"Oh, no.  No, no.  Not at all.  Never.  And you must hurry and find your sister Maggy and tell her also.
Your ZH loves you both and misses you both and she always will.
She will never ever forget either of you.  None of your friends here, none of the kitties and none of the woofies
will be forgotten by those they left on earth.  But you should know that those left behind have
room in their hearts for others, and so many others there need homes, need to be rescued and
cared for and loved ~ as you were.  It should make you feel good and happy, not sad.  And
when the time comes, they will arrive here to join you and the cycle will repeat itself yet again.
Now, put your halo back on.  Go find Maggy and all your friends.
Run along and play and do not be sad.  It is another good and beautiful day.
And know you are loved.  Always and forever."

Maggy, Maggy ~ where are you?  I have something very wonderful to tell you . . .
