SMALL, MEDIUM or LARGE

Mine Mommy says that once upon a time I was a small cat in a small box.
(Qualifier: these are photographs from 2-years ago March)

Oh dear.

She claims today I would be a medium cat in a medium box, or
purrhaps even a large cat ~ trying to get into the medium or the small box.

I tend to disagree.  

We do agree I continue to be a prime cat!

Yes, it's only a "flashback" by about 8-months, to when June was first adopted, she'd arrived in early October and this series of photos were taken October 24 she was just seven months old.  I think I've posted one of these pictures, though not all of them ~ and yet these are a few of my favorite "all time" pictures of her, not only did the actual photographs come out well, but she looks adorable in each one!  The kind of pictures that make you say, "oh little kit, don't ever grow up"!

The Zoolatry Human was talking to me the other day ~ all about the month of October.  

She said that Zoolatry would turn into Boolatry and all month long it would be

sweet-or-scary for those who used to live here ... like Dougie Dog, and our Angels, Maggy and Zoey. 

And the grand pets Chewy and Fiona.  And often she would have many friends from the

pet blogging community get all dressed-up and they would show up here, too!

But we couldn't do that this year, the ZH was too busy with bunches of other stuff, and I was 

thinking it was a little bit scary for me.  So instead, she said "why don't you flashback, and share

a few of our favorites from the Boolatry days of old" ... so here are just a few!

That's Dougie Dog and Zoey together up top as "pumpkin heads" and then 

right beneath what are probably the ZH's all-time favorite scary-Bark-O-Ween pictures 

of Dougie Dog.  [and yes, in case anyone wonders, she does hugely miss that wonderful and

awesome Dougie Dog ... who is happily still with his boy]

And below, from our Florida home (c.2008), where although Angel Zoey truly "ruled the roost", there were those

times when Angel Maggy could get the better of her ... especially if "treats" were involved!

Any who visit Zoolatry know they will often see photos of my three grandchildren with their pets!

And of course, we frequently highlight those grand-pets on their own.

Today though, we are flashing-back ... way back ... to the mid 1970s.

Here, my own "kids" (of course, now parents themselves), pictured with several of the

family pets that shared our lives many years ago.

Were you one of those kids who lay out on the grass on a hot summer day, a popsicle (orange preferred) to keep you cool ... one of Mom's old blankets beneath you ... flicking away the ants that came along?  Were you one of those who looked up at those clouds drifting by and saw a cat, a dog ... maybe a sailing ship or a rocket on the way to the moon?  Growing up in the 1950s, living in rural mid-West, no TV (yet), of course no video games, computers, cell phones, etc., etc. [some of you know this list of "not haves"] ... cloud watching was a "thing to do".

Here's a Friday Flashback.  No, not looking up at the clouds.  Rather, looking down at the tiled floor beneath my feet ... once upon a time, on the porch of my home in Florida.  Daydreaming, seeing shapes ... I didn't see a cat, or a dog ... or that rocket to the moon though.  Do you see anything?  What do you see ... look hard ... imagine ... let your mind wander free ... do you see what I saw ......

FLASHBACK FRIDAY ~ CHESSIE

Today, we are flashing back ~ way back ... to remember, and share images of one of

the best pups ever!  Miss Chesapeake Red ... a pure bred (from a rather famous hunting line

of beagles, raised in central Michigan) came to us as a pup and was part of our family for

nearly 18-years ... through two generations of "little ones".

She was a lover, though never lost her hunter instincts.  We always said she walked on five paws,

nose to the ground and every critter was her target!  Off the leash?  An open door?  Away she

went, following whatever scent was in the air.  

Thankfully, always found, though often miles from home.

We had only lived in Michigan a short time when we adopted her, so her name was in memory

of the Chesapeake Bay region (we had moved from northern Virginia).  And "Red" was due to 

her bi-color, rather than the traditional tri-color of most beagles.

Over her years with us, she lived in three states, always adaptable and was sadly missed

when her time to cross the rainbow arrived.  But Chessie gave much to our lives and we thank her.

During my Florida life, it was not unusual to have geckos and lizards inside our home a lot of the time ... especially on our back porch.  And of course, Maggy and Zoey loved chasing them, playing with them when lucky enough to catch one ... though to the best of my knowledge, did not consume them.  This series of photos was originally posted in April 2013 taken as I sat quietly one day and watched Zoey and her gecko friend!

ZOOLATRY'S 2016 YEAR IN REVIEW

Looking back through 2016, in real life it was not the easiest or happiest year in recent memory ...

yet here at Zoolatry, where we spend many of our days in fun and fantasy, it was a good year!

Each day, week and month is whatever we choose to make of it.

Sadly, we said farewell to many, many dear friends who crossed the rainbow bridge ~ 

but we also welcomed new friends into our small but joyful world of pet blogging.

All these friendships are treasured and we thank you each for being a part of our little world here ...

FRIDAY FLASHBACK ~ HALLOWEEN BABY GATOR

Once upon a time, down Florida way, 

where them gators run and roam, each and every day...

now keep an eye out for them gators, 

'cause in your yard they'll come to play!

Once upon a time, down Florida way,

there lived a baby gator, a really cute one I would say.

A little tail and big brown eyes, sweet as he could be,

baby gator was no danger to either you or me.

 

 He crawled about on Halloween,

in his gator suit of fuzzy green.

Begging for candy, cookies or a toy!

I love this baby gator ... he's my little grand gator boy!

This "baby gator" grand boy is now ten-years-old and every bit as cute

and sweet and smart as ever!  Though I doubt very much he'd likely

"do" Halloween in an outfit like this anymore!  

Captain America or Pokemon is more to his liking now!
