PAWSing

A pause in Boolatry today as we give thought to family, to close friends and
to the many pet bloggers we know throughout Florida.

Florida ~ the place one often calls the Sunshine State, now ~
millions without power, flooding from the Gulf Coast to the Space Coast
and little else yet fully known of loss and damage.

For all we pray.

"WINDOWS" vs windows

My feeble attempt to introduce a bit of humor into our shared "Windows" experience (September 12 and again on September 17) appears not to have been all that clear.

JUNE has some very nice, high up, 16th floor, windows that she enjoys ... when not hiding in the closet to escape my stress and frustration and earlier mentioned bad, bad werdz (the place where she also found one or two of her own delish little bugs, by the way).

On the other paw, I, her Mommy, have been struggling, sans humor, to upgrade the "Windows" operating system on our computer.  Oh, it downloaded easy enough, fast and thoroughly.  And most of what I had before, for years and years, was still there.  Some new goodies were there, too.  Not that I wanted those new goodies, or have any intention of ever using them, and little bugs I didn't want and June wouldn't eat.

I'm an "oldie", would like to say an "oldie goldie" purrhaps.  A bit set in my ways.  I do what I do in my way. Willing to change, to grow, but only in small steps ... like that old "Mother May I?" game played in childhood.  A baby step, not a giant leap!

So, discovering that some of my favorite and most used tools ... those used daily to design and create June's Zoolatry blog posts were GONE ... gone, girl, gone ... was a bit disturbing.  And disturbing is a really big understatement.  As June will attest, a lot of bad, bad werdz could be heard all the way from the 16th floor to the street below!

The moral of this story?  None really.  Well, maybe the old buyer beware.  Or buyer prepare.  We continue to work, which means downloads of other software, tweaking this and that, searching hidden files, going where no (wo)man has gone before ...

Until then, no posts.  No visiting friends blogs.  No commenting.  And that is the real "Windows" story.

Comments off.

ART or ARTIFICIAL

Today's image choice for SAM'S POETRY CORNER really hit home for me as I have strong feelings about the use of artificial intelligence for art and photography.  Yet I fully admit to using computer programs of all kinds, those that have been available for years ~ and that using these tools to alter photographs or to enhance art are in their own way "artificial".  But only to a degree if the original piece being altered or enhanced was a creation of the artist.  AI where one simply tells a computer "what" to create, by written or spoken words, seems to me just wrong.  I accept that AI may ultimately be somewhat beneficial in many fields, but believe it will be harmful in others and do not think it will, at least in my lifetime, replace or even add to the creative heart, soul and mind of a human.  (This is my opinion, and not meant as a reflection of those who do like to use AI programs which is their right to do.)

Our poem today takes the form of prose, and we are thankful for
AI not as Artificial Intelligence but as Artistic Inspiration.

Oils, acrylics, stretched canvas.
Watercolors, soft, texture.  Pastels.
Easels, palettes, brushes and turpentine.
India ink, pen points thick, thin.
Collages, montages, mixing media.
Images camera caught.  Split seconds in time.
The hearts, the souls, the minds,
the imagination of artists,
humans, living, breathing, feeling
humans.

A VERY SPECIAL WELCOME ... and a VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU ...

Today ... we welcome one and all to the new CAT BLOGOSPHERE.

After many weeks of long, hard work by Paula Gregg (of Sweet Purrfections) and Terry Frum (of Brian's Home)
today is the day the new Cat Blogosphere premieres!

Be sure to stop by and give Paula and Terry a big "paws up of thanks" for all the time and effort
they have devoted to making this happen ~ not to mention, all they will be giving going forward!

By supporting the Cat Blogosphere daily, adding your post links, sharing your news, announcing
your blog hops and other events, you will make it more successful than it has ever been.

You can spread the word through your own social media contacts and with other pet friends, and by
posting and sharing the new logo for the Cat Blogosphere.  The new logo is below, feel free to copy and paste to your blog and social media sites (removing the old one please).

Thank you ... and thanks for your support!

... and a VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU ...

For more years than we know of, some guy who we tended to call "Mo" when we should have called him "Morgen" (sorry about that) ... well, he nearly gave over his life (day and night, weekends, holidays and vacations) to the Cat Blogosphere!  As much as possible, MINION (formerly Isis) helped out, of course, but then, cats do need their nap time ... And behind the scenes, there was always the amazing and (OMC, thank you!) tech support from the one-and-only Eyad ... but the time came when Morgen let out a great big sigh and said, time to move on.  Rightfully so.  He's a teacher, you know, and quite an extraordinary one we're told.  And those kids really need (and deserve) teachers like him!  So ... without getting all weepy here, just want to say THANKS, MO!  (or THANKS, MORGEN!) ...
Thanks, Eyad ... Meow, Minion (and a few other cats and dogs in the house as well).  Good Job, all!
We're gonna miss you here at the CB, but we'll never fur-get you.  XXX OOO
